Prophet Muhammad SAWW

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (s) is the final messenger of Allah and the centre of Muslim faith and love. In the Shia tradition he was born in Makkah on 17 Rabi al-Awwal in the Year of the Elephant (around 570 CE), and received the first revelation in the Cave of Hira at the age of forty, on 27 Rajab, the day of Mab’ath. After thirteen years of preaching in Makkah he migrated to Madinah in 622 CE, an event that marks the start of the Islamic calendar. He established the first Muslim community there and, in his final Hajj, declared at Ghadir Khumm: “Whoever I am his master, Ali is his master.” In Shia tradition he passed away in Madinah on 28 Safar, 11 AH, and is buried in his house, now inside the Prophet’s Mosque. This section brings together articles on his life, character, sayings and the occasions connected with him.
