Fiqah e Jafria School Online: Shia Quran Academy Since 2012

Al Mehdi Center teaches Fiqah e Jafria online alongside Quran reading: Namaz, Wudu, Ahkaam and Wajibaat explained simply for children and adults. Lessons are live and one-on-one with qualified Shia teachers, and our Fiqah e Jafria Namaz, Ahkaam and Wajibaats course follows a structured syllabus.

Al Mehdi Online Quran Center is the first and longest-running Shia Online Quran academy on the internet, established on 14th August 2012. For over a decade, we have been the trusted choice for Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim families in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and across the world who want their children — and themselves — to learn the Quran and practise Islam correctly according to Fiqah e Jafria and the teachings of Ahlulbayt (AS).

We are not a general Islamic platform. We are exclusively a Shia Online Quran academy with online male and female teachers — built by Shia Muslims, staffed by Shia teachers, and dedicated entirely to the Shia Ithna-Asheri community. Every lesson, every course, and every teacher at Al Mehdi reflects the authentic tradition of the school of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (AS).

What Makes Al Mehdi the Right Shia Online Quran Academy

There are many online Quran platforms available today. But finding a genuine, exclusively Shia Quran academy — one that understands the specific needs of Ithna-Asheri students, teaches Namaz the correct Fiqah e Jafria way, and employs teachers who are themselves practising Shia Muslims — is a different matter entirely.

Al Mehdi was built to be exactly that. Here is what sets us apart from every other online Quran platform:

Established 2012 — The oldest Shia Online Quran academy

Al Mehdi was founded on 14th August 2012 and has taught Shia families online ever since. While many platforms were launched in 2022 or 2023, we have 14 years of teaching experience with families in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and NZ. Experience matters when it comes to your child’s Islamic education.

All teachers are practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslims

This is non-negotiable at Al Mehdi. Every teacher on our platform is a practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim with deep knowledge not just of Tajweed and Quranic Arabic, but of Shia Islamic law, the lives of the Ahlulbayt (AS), and the specific religious obligations of a Fiqah e Jafria Muslim. You will never be matched with a teacher who doesn't understand your faith.

100% Fiqah e Jafria curriculum — not generic Islamic studies

Many online Quran platforms claim to be "Shia-friendly" but teach a generic curriculum. At Al Mehdi, every course — from Basic Qaida to full Quran Tajweed to Namaz and Ahkaam — is designed and taught strictly according to Fiqah e Jafria. Your child will learn to pray, recite, and practise Islam exactly as taught by the Twelve Imams (AS).e.

One-on-one live classes — total personal attention

All Al Mehdi classes are conducted live, one-to-one, via Microsoft Teams. There are no group sessions, no pre-recorded videos, and no AI-generated instruction. Your child gets the teacher's complete attention every single session. Progress is faster, retention is deeper, and the teacher-student relationship mirrors the traditional Shia learning environment.

Male and female Shia teachers available

We understand that for many Shia families, having a qualified female teacher for daughters and adult women is essential. Al Mehdi has experienced female Shia Quran teachers available, all of whom are fluent in English, Urdu, Arabic, and Persian.

Flexible scheduling across all time zones

Our students are in every corner of the world. Class slots are available mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate school, work, and family schedules across UK (GMT), US (EST/CST/MST/PST), Canada, Australia (AEST/AWST), and all other time zones.

Free trial classes — 5 classes, no payment required

Every new student at Al Mehdi receives 5 completely free trial classes before any commitment is made. This is not a one-class teaser — it is a genuine trial period so your child can settle in, experience the teaching method, and progress enough for you to make a confident decision.

Affordable monthly hadya

Quality Shia Islamic education should not be a financial burden on momin families. Al Mehdi’s monthly fees are structured to be genuinely affordable, with transparent pricing and no hidden charges. See our Pricing page for current rates.

Courses at Al Mehdi – Shia Online Quran academy

Al Mehdi Center – Shia Online Quran Academy offers three structured programmes, each designed to take students from their current level to measurable progress in their Quranic recitation, Islamic knowledge, and religious practice.

Basic Qaida AlMehdiOnlineQuranCenter-OnlineQuranwithtajweedbyShiaTeacher

Basic Qaida Reading with Tajweed

Ideal for: Children aged 4 and above, adult beginners, and anyone starting Quran learning from scratch.

This is the foundation of all Quranic education. Students begin with the Noorani Qaida, learning the Arabic alphabet, correct letter pronunciation (Makharij al-Huroof), vowel markings (Harakat), and the basic rules that govern how letters connect and are pronounced in Quranic text.

The Noorani Qaida methodology has been trusted by Shia families for generations because it teaches correct pronunciation from the very first lesson — preventing bad habits that take years to undo. At Al Mehdi, this course is taught by teachers trained specifically in Shia Tajweed traditions.

By the end of this course, students can read any Arabic word with confidence and are fully prepared to begin reading directly from the Holy Quran.

What students learn:
Arabic alphabet recognition and correct pronunciation
Short and long vowels (Harakat, Madd)
Sukoon, Tashdeed, and Tanween rules
Connecting letters in words
Reading words and short phrases from the Quran
Foundational Tajweed rules according to Shia tradition

Quran Reading with Tajweed

Ideal for: Students who have completed Noorani Qaida or can already read basic Arabic.

This two-stage programme takes students through the complete Holy Quran with proper Tajweed application. Stage one (Tamheed-ul-Quran) focuses on perfecting letter articulation and applying the rules learned in Qaida to actual Quranic verses. Stage two (Applied Tajweed) covers the full set of Tajweed rules — Madd, Ghunna, Idghaam, Ikhfaa, Iqlaab, and more — applied consistently throughout Quranic recitation.

Students are guided at their own pace, with regular review and correction from their teacher. The goal is not just to finish the Quran but to recite it the way the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) and Ahlulbayt (AS) recited it — beautifully, accurately, and with deep respect for every word.

What students learn:
All major Tajweed rules with Shia scholarly references
Correct recitation of every Surah
Rules of Waqf (pausing) and Ibtida (resuming)
Qualities of letters (Sifaat al-Huroof)
Consistent application of Tajweed through the full Quran

Fiqah e Jafria — Namaz, Ahkaam, and Wajibaats

Ideal for: Children approaching Buloogh, adults learning their religious obligations, new Muslims.

This is the course that distinguishes Al Mehdi from every general online Quran platform. It is a complete Shia religious education programme covering all the obligatory practices (Wajibaats) and essential Islamic rulings (Ahkaam) according to Fiqah e Jafria.

The knowledge taught in this course is not optional for a practising Shia Muslim — it is the foundation of valid worship. A Muslim who does not know the correct method of Namaz according to Fiqah e Jafria, or who is unaware of the rules of Taharah, Khums, and fasting, cannot fulfil their religious duties with confidence.

What students learn:

Taharah (Ritual Purity)
Wudhu: method, conditions, and what breaks it
Ghusl: types (Janabat, Haydh, etc.) and correct method
Tayammum: when and how
Najasaat and how to purify them

Namaz (Daily Prayers)
The complete method of all five daily prayers according to Fiqah e Jafria
Conditions and obligatory acts of prayer
What invalidates Namaz
Qadha prayers and their rulings
Namaz-e-Jum'aa (Friday Prayer)
Congregation prayer (Namaz-e-Jamaat)

Other Wajibaats
Fasting (Sawm): rules, what breaks the fast, Kaffarah
Khums: what it is, what is subject to it, how to calculate and pay it
Zakat: conditions and method
Hajj: essential knowledge of its obligations
Amr bil Ma'roof wa Nahi anil Munkar

Halal and Haram
Food and drink: what is permissible and what is forbidden
Business dealings and contracts
Key rulings on daily life according to Fiqah e Jafria

Recommended Acts (Mustahabbaat)
Ziaraat and their importance
Common Duas from the tradition of Ahlulbayt (AS)
Observance of Muharram and other religious occasions

Frequently asked questions about Al Mehdi – Shia Online Quran academy

Q: What makes Al Mehdi different from other Shia online Quran academies? Al Mehdi was established in 2012 and has taught Shia families online ever since. We are exclusively a Fiqah e Jafria school — every teacher, course, and lesson is built around the authentic Shia Ithna-Asheri tradition. We do not teach a generic Islamic curriculum with a few Shia elements added in. Shia Islam — and specifically Fiqah e Jafria — is all we do.

Q: Do you teach according to Fiqah e Jafria specifically? Yes. All courses at Al Mehdi are taught strictly according to Fiqah e Jafria, the school of jurisprudence established by Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (AS). This includes Namaz, Wudhu, fasting, Khums, and all other religious obligations. We do not follow any other madhab.

Q: Are all your teachers Shia Muslims? Yes, without exception. Every teacher at Al Mehdi is a practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim. This is a fundamental requirement of our hiring process. Your child will never be taught by someone who does not share and understand your faith.

Q: Do you have female Shia Quran teachers? Yes. We have qualified and experienced female Shia teachers available for female students of all ages. You can request a female teacher when you sign up and we will ensure your preference is met.

Q: What age groups do you accept? We teach students from age 5 upwards through to adults of any age. Our youngest students begin with Noorani Qaida and our oldest students include adults wanting to learn Namaz correctly or deepen their Quranic knowledge for the first time.

Q: What languages do your teachers speak? Our teachers are fluent in English, Urdu, Arabic, and Persian. Lessons are conducted in the language most comfortable for the student.

Q: Can adults enrol, or is this only for children? Al Mehdi is for both children and adults. Many of our students are adults — parents learning alongside their children, professionals who never had the opportunity to learn Quran in childhood, new Muslims beginning their journey, and Shia Muslims who want to understand and strengthen their religious practice according to Fiqah e Jafria.

Q: How much do classes cost after the free trial? After the trial, students choose a monthly plan. Our pricing is affordable and transparent — please see the Pricing page for current rates. There are no registration fees and no long-term contracts.
