At what age does Taklif start in Shia Islam?
In Fiqah-e-Jafria, a girl becomes baligh (mukallaf) when she completes 9 lunar (Hijri) years. A boy becomes baligh at 15 lunar years, or earlier if the other signs of puberty appear. From then on, Namaz, Roza and the other wajibaat are obligatory.
What is Jashn-e-Taklif?
Jashn-e-Taklif is a celebration held when a child reaches the age of religious obligation, especially girls at 9. It marks the start of their Namaz and Roza with joy and encouragement.
When should my child start the Taklif course?
Ideally 1 to 2 years before baligh: around age 7 to 8 for girls and 12 to 13 for boys, so Namaz and the key ahkaam are firm before they become obligatory.
What does the course cover?
Taqleed and choosing a Marja, taharat and najasat, wudu, ghusl and tayammum, correct Namaz with recitation, Roza, the basics of hijab for girls, and Usool-e-Deen, taught in a child-friendly way.
Is a female teacher available for girls?
Yes. Girls can learn with a qualified female Shia teacher, which many families prefer for Taklif topics.

Frequently asked questions
What age can my child start Arabic classes?
Children can start from age 5. Younger children begin with letters and sounds; older children can move faster into reading and vocabulary.
Is this course for speaking Arabic or understanding the Quran?
The focus is reading Arabic and understanding Quranic and prayer vocabulary, so children understand what they recite. Simple everyday phrases are included for older children.
My child already reads Quran. Will this help?
Yes. Many children read the Quran fluently but do not understand the words. The vocabulary and grammar levels help them connect meaning to recitation.
Can a parent sit in the class?
Yes. We encourage parents to sit with younger children, and parents can join any class.
