About Al Mehdi Online Quran Center — The Fiqah e Jafria Online School Founded in 2012

Al Mehdi Online Quran Center was established on 14th August 2012 — making us the first and longest-running dedicated Fiqah e Jafria online school on the internet. For over thirteen years, we have had one mission: to bring authentic Shia Ithna-Asheri Islamic education to Muslim families wherever they live in the world, starting from the very first letter of the Quran and going all the way through to a complete understanding of their religious obligations.
We are not a general Islamic platform that happens to have some Shia teachers. We are exclusively a Fiqah e Jafria school — built by Shia Muslims, run by Shia Muslims, and dedicated entirely to the Ithna-Asheri Shia community. Every teacher we employ, every course we offer, and every lesson we deliver is rooted in the tradition of Ahlulbayt (AS) and the jurisprudence of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (AS).

Our story — why Al Mehdi was founded

In 2012, a small team of Shia Muslim educators based in Pakistan recognised a problem that was growing quietly across the world: the children of Shia Muslims living in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and other Western countries were growing up without access to the authentic Fiqah e Jafria education their parents had received.

This was not for lack of desire. Shia Muslim parents in the diaspora are among the most dedicated Islamic educators in the world. They send their children to Imambargahs, observe Muharram, and work hard to keep the love of Ahlulbayt (AS) alive in homes surrounded by non-Muslim culture. But one thing was consistently unavailable to them: a structured, one-on-one, qualified Shia teacher who could teach their child the Quran correctly — and teach the Namaz, Ahkaam, and Wajibaats of Fiqah e Jafria with the same accuracy as the madrasas of Pakistan, Iraq, and Iran.

We built Al Mehdi to solve this problem.

Starting with a small number of qualified Ithna-Asheri Shia teachers and a simple Zoom-based classroom, we began connecting Shia families in the English-speaking world with authentic Islamic education. One student became ten. Ten became a hundred. Today, Al Mehdi serves hundreds of Shia Muslim families across the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, France, and more than 30 countries worldwide.

Our model has never changed: one teacher, one student, one authentic Islamic education. No group classes, no generic curriculum, no compromise on Fiqah e Jafria.

Our mission and vision

Our Mission

To make authentic Fiqah e Jafria Quranic and Islamic education accessible to every Shia Muslim family, wherever in the world they live. We believe the right to learn the Quran and understand Islam correctly — according to the teachings of Ahlulbayt (AS) — belongs to every Momin and Momina, regardless of where they were born or where they now call home.

We fulfil this mission through:

Qualified, practising Shia teachers — Every teacher at Al Mehdi is a practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim with verified knowledge of Quranic sciences, Tajweed rules, and Fiqah e Jafria. We hire for knowledge, character, and teaching ability — in that order.

One-on-one live instruction — We have never offered group classes, and we never will. Tajweed cannot be corrected in a crowd. Ahkaam cannot be learned passively. Every student at Al Mehdi receives the teacher’s complete, undivided attention in every session.

Authentic Fiqah e Jafria curriculum — From Noorani Qaida to full Quran with Tajweed, from Wudhu to Khums, every topic is taught according to the rulings of Fiqah e Jafria. We do not blend madhabs. We do not simplify or dilute the rulings of Shia jurisprudence. We teach what the Maraje of Fiqah e Jafria have ruled, as it is.

Accessibility for diaspora families — Classes at flexible times across all time zones, in English, Urdu, Arabic, and Persian, at an affordable monthly hadya — because we understand the realities of family life in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.

What makes Al Mehdi different from every other online Quran platform

There are many online Quran platforms. There are far fewer genuine Shia Quran academies. And there is only one Al Mehdi.

Everything here — every course, every teacher, every Namaz lesson — is built from the ground up on the jurisprudence of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (AS).

Every teacher is a practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim This is non-negotiable. A teacher who does not themselves pray Namaz according to Fiqah e Jafria, who does not pay Khums, who has not grown up in the traditions of Ahlulbayt (AS) — cannot transmit this education authentically. We verify the religious practice and qualifications of every teacher before they teach a single class.

Both male and female Shia Quran teachers We have experienced, qualified female Shia teachers available for female students of all ages. This is not a token offering — our female teachers teach the same complete curriculum as our male teachers and are matched with students based on qualification and availability, not convenience.

The teachers of Al Mehdi Online Quran Center

Our teachers are the heart of everything we do. Selecting, training, and retaining the right teachers is the single most important thing we do as an institution.

Every teacher at Al Mehdi is:

A practising Ithna-Asheri Shia Muslim with a deep personal commitment to the teachings of Ahlulbayt (AS) and a daily practice of Fiqah e Jafria in their own lives.

Qualified in Quranic sciences and Tajweed, with verified knowledge of Makharij al-Huroof, all major Tajweed rules, and the principles of Quranic recitation as transmitted in the Shia scholarly tradition.

Knowledgeable in Fiqah e Jafria, with the ability to explain the rulings of Namaz, Taharah, and other Ahkaam clearly and accurately to students at every level — from young children to adults.

An experienced online teacher, comfortable with Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams, and skilled in the particular art of online instruction — maintaining engagement, correcting pronunciation through audio, and building genuine teacher-student relationships in a digital environment.

Fluent in at least English, with most also speaking Urdu, Arabic, or Persian — so students and parents from any background can communicate comfortably.
